I am passionate about experiencing and facilitating personal growth and wellbeing. I bring my broad spiritual, ecological and creative interests to the realms of addiction, compulsivity, emotional difficulty and relationship challenge. I aim to facilitate the movement towards balance and wholeness.
I gained a distinction Masters in Addiction Psychology and Counselling from London South Bank University. I did my research on the link between Attachment Theory and Addiction. I have attended a comprehensive course in the treatment of Anorexia, Bulimia, Compulsive Eating and Obesity at the National Centre for Eating Disorders. I have recently attended courses on incorporating Mindfulness into therapeutic practice, on the treatment of sexual trauma, and on whole-body Focusing. In recent years my interests in issues of ecology and societal change, as well as individual transformation, and how these interact, has lead me to study at the Schumacher Institute, Dartington, South Devon. Currently I am undergoing a yearlong Foundation Course in Nature Therapy to complement the former year’s study.
Since 2005 I have worked at three prominent addictions treatment centres – Promis, Farm Place and the Roehampton Priory – and at the latter I facilitated cross-discipline collaboration between the addictions and the eating disorder programmes. I have also worked at The Recovery Centre in Chelsea, The Arrigo Programme in Glastonbury, co-facilitated Spirituality Retreat weekends, and lead groups exploring masculine identity, as well as leading meditation groups. More recently I have been working in local community settings. At the Swan Project – a counselling service providing low cost long-term therapy – I conducted assessments and co-ran an alcohol support group. At Kinergy – a sexual abuse survivors service – I co-facilitated a weekly therapy group for male survivors of sexual abuse. At the Southmead Project – a charity offering year-long therapy to clients affected by addiction with underlying trauma – I was fortunate to be able to deliver year-long individual counselling and trauma healing groups. In 2016-17 I worked internationally with The Kusnacht Practice and Brevin Healthcare conducting intensive residential therapy.
I currently offer individual therapy to clients in Devon and online and am developing retreats and workshops for those wishing to experience deeper opportunities to change. I am a trauma therapist for the pioneering charity Write To Freedom who provide exciting residential wilderness-based rights of passage on Dartmoor for recovering addicts. Further afield I also work with the Arrigo Programme in London and Somerset offering psychotherapeutic support to an international client-base.
